It's a very sad time in U.S. politics

The 2006 mid-term election results were horrible for the GOP! The House AND Senate are now controlled by Democrats ("House speaker Nancy Pelosi" sends a cold chill up my spine), and President Bush has become a "lame duck" in politico terms.

As even more of a one-two punch to the GOP--and our troops!--the day after elections, it was announced the Donald Rumsfeld would be stepping down as Secretary of Defense. This does NOT bode well for us.

Rumsfeld was not perfect, of course, but apparently the new guy, Gates, is known for being big on capitulation, which of course would undoubtedly lead someone in the middle east to say something like this. We are so screwed.

Well you know what? WE GET WHAT WE DESERVE. If we think that the Democrats will keep us safer than the GOP, then we've sorely lost our way. They have no plans, no real goals--except to get re-elected--and history shows that in the way of U.S. security, they are extremely weak.

I can only PRAY that within these final 2 years of Bush's leadership, that people come to realize that the Dems are messing things up more than ever, and by 2008, Republicans will again look good to voters.

But I'm not holding my breath...I mean, we had to suffer through 8 years of Bill Clinton, after all.
