The TED conference: the 'new' Illuminati?

After all of the reading and research I have done on my own about the End Times, when I come across something like this, it makes me sit up and take notice.

This seems to be a group of people who are the embodiment of the leftist/socialist/utopian mindset, those who are blinded by the thought that technology and ideas--not religion, or God, per se--will be the salvation of the world. Unfortunately, they are sadly and eternally WRONG. This is the type of people who will welcome the anti-christ as 'savior', because he may use this very mode of thought and technology to rule the world, then turn against it (in the eyes of the TED conference, more/better technology is a good thing). Here is the list of the TED 'brain trust'. Their titles are very telling: futurist...genomics pioneer...visionary...psychologist...expert.

An interesting question on one of the TED links--and their very interesting answer.

Q: Is TED elitist?

A: That's a word to be very careful with. The answer is yes (in a good way), but also no.

Waitaminnit. "In a good way"? There's a good way to be elitist??? It continues:

It's certainly true that the majority of those attending the annual TED conference have been extremely successful in some field or other, and we wouldn't want it any other way. But financial success (which is what "elitism" sometimes implies) is not the key measure. TED attendees include thought leaders and innovators from a surprisingly broad range of endeavor: technology, entertainment, design, science, business, global issues, philanthropy and the arts. Because of their recognized achievements, most of these people can afford the $6,000 standard membership fee. Of course, we're still seeking to ensure that everyone who comes to TED is exceptional in some way.

(pay attention to this next statement very carefully)

In our minds, that is the real TED audience. A global community of knowledge-seekers.

Hmmm.

"In our minds."

"Global community."

Just let those two phrases sink in for a minute. Because those phrases are the very crux of what defines the Left, and colors their entire way of thinking. What they neglect to mention in their answer on elitism is not that the conference costs so much to attend, but that these are the people who look down on 'middle America' and those of a conservative, and moreover, Biblical mindset. 'Elitist' does not necessarily mean richer than another (although that's part of it), but means: 'I am better than you; I know better than you do; your ideas and thoughts are old, outdated and dangerous; therefore, you must be silenced, and for your own good, I must save you from yourself.'

I think our friend Merriam-Webster can help with this part:

Contempt: open dislike for someone or something considered unworthy of one's concern or respect

Quash / Quell: to put a stop to (something) by the use of force; to crush, put down, repress, silence, snuff (out), squash, squelch, subdue, suppress, extinguish, smother, stifle, strangle; annihilate, destroy, smash; exterminate, obliterate, wipe out; conquer, overcome, overwhelm, subjugate, vanquish; to silence.

Think I'll be keeping an eye on TED for some time to come.

Two great men go HOME to the Lord

Rest in peace, Jesse Helms...

and the wonderful Tony Snow passes away after a long battle with colon cancer:

Sidebar: OF COURSE, the liberal left has to take its potshots at poor departed Tony, they can't leave well enough alone.

Contrast that with the absolutely glowing obit of Tim Russert!
