Certainly, they have a "cool" factor built in, but they are becoming so ubiquitous, so dangerous, and can be used for so many evil intents (I'm talking to you, NSA) that we're going to need some hard core legislation to deal with their growing numbers.
Otherwise, folks like me may take things into their own hands with shotguns or nets!
