Israel Independence Day 2006 *5766 - Jerusalem Newswire:

The day in 1948 was a multi-miracle milestone:

* It marked the precise, 100 percent accurate fulfillment of what Jewish prophets had foretold thousands of years before.

* It verified that the Jews had indeed survived as a nation through two millennia of worldwide dispersion and persecution that culminated in the Holocaust.

* It marked the return of the remnant of that nation to the same land, cities and towns from which Rome had driven it 1,818 years before."

Scientists will ALWAYS find a way to corrupt the good

And in the mad scientist department....here are some real winners:

"Chimeras [human-animal crossbreads] or parahumans might legitimately be fashioned to do dangerous or demeaning jobs. As it is now, low-grade work is shoved off on moronic and retarded individuals, the victims of uncontrolled reproduction. Should we not program such workers 'thoughtfully' instead of accidentally, by means of hybridization?" — Dr. Joseph Fletcher, Harvard University professor widely recognized as the "patriarch of bioethics"
"The horizons of the new eugenics are, in principle, boundless. For the first time in all time, a living creature understands its origin and can undertake to design its future..." — Dr. Robert Sinsheimer, molecular biologist, Chancellor of the University of California at Santa Cruz, initiator of the Human Genome Project.

"No newborn infant should be declared human until it has passed certain tests regarding its genetic endowment, and that if it fails these tests it forfeits the right to live.” — Dr. Francis Crick, Nobel Prize Laureate 1962, co-discovery of DNA. Crick also favored a scheme for licensing parenthood or a tax on children to encourage "those people who are more socially desirable to have more children.”

"If you are really stupid, I would call that a disease...so I'd like to get rid of that....People say it would be terrible if we made all girls pretty. I think it would be great." [typical man] — Dr. James Watson, president of the Cold Spring Harbour Laboratory, New York, Nobel Prize Laureate, co-discovery of DNA, advocating for manipulation of the human genome.

"Science is moving at such a fast pace that scientists have proven that they can create headless mice through removal of genes in the embryo that control development of the head. But the body would have the capacity to keep the organs functional for use as transplants.... Embryonic stem cells, which holds promise of cure of any organ, is but a slow move towards immortality." — Dr. P.B. Desai, world renowned oncologist in India

"If biological manipulation is indeed a slippery slope, then we are already sliding down that slope now and may as well enjoy the ride.'' [oh, that's SUCH a good reason] — Gregory Stock, Director of the Program on Medicine, Technology, and Society at UCLA’s School of Public Health and author of Redesigning Humans: Our Inevitable Genetic Future

"There is a close analogy between a human body invaded by a cancer and a nation afflicted with subpopulations whose inborn defects cause them to become social liabilities. Just as in cancer the best treatment is to eradicate the parasitic growth as quickly as possible, the eugenic defense against the dysgenic social effects of afflicted subpopulations is of necessity limited to equally drastic measures . . . . When these inferior elements [hey, not only the sick or deformed, but the unborn and elderly too!] are not effectively eliminated from a population, then—just as when the cells of a malignant tumor are allowed to proliferate throughout a human body—they destroy the host body as well as themselves." — Dr. Konrad Lorenz, Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine, 1973. The Judas We Never Knew - Christianity Today Magazine

In the last days, satan's influence will grow, and many people will be led astray ... led away from the truth of the Bible. It's also amazing that many people who consider themselves too "intelligent" to believe in the Bible, tend to believe stuff like "the Gospel of Judas:"

The Judas We Never Knew - Christianity Today Magazine

It's just another sign, already predicted ... 2,000 years ago.

Matthew 24 - Signs of the End of the Age

"Watch out that no one deceives you. 5For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many.

10At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.

23At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or, 'There he is!' do not believe it. 24For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible. 25See, I have told you ahead of time.

26"So if anyone tells you, 'There he is, out in the desert,' do not go out; or, 'Here he is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it. 27For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

Dallas Morning News News for Dallas, Texas Latest News:

Conservative Christians losing faith in GOP
Saturday, April 1, 2006
By WAYNE SLATER / The Dallas Morning News

WASHINGTON – There was no clearer sense of the despair among conservative Christians who gathered recently than the row upon row of books with urgent, alarmist titles.

Pagan America. Judicial Tyranny. Liberalism Kills Kids. The Criminalization of Christianity.

In the political culture wars, religious conservatives say they've been electing candidates but not getting the results they want. And leaders worry that they might be about to lose Christian conservatives as a potent political force because of unmet expectations on a host of issues and stumbles by a Republican administration they helped elect.

Conservative "values voters" have been crucial to Republican success, with religious leaders driving huge voter turnout in recent elections. If they lack enthusiasm this fall, experts say, the GOP could lose control of Congress.

"The nation isn't focused today in a way it was on such issues as abortion, marriage, the nature of the family," said the Rev. Laurence White of Houston. "For us, it's not the economy, stupid. It's the morality, stupid."

The Rev. Rick Scarborough, an East Texas evangelist whose group Vision America sponsored a two-day conference aimed at getting Christian activists involved in the 2006 elections, says he hopes to mobilize groups representing 20 million people. To motivate them, he offers a list of 10 grievances and a program to register voters and press candidates to pass specific legislation.

"We're tired of talk. We want action," he said. "It occurs to us that no matter who is in the White House or who says what we want to hear, nothing ever changes."

High on the list are a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage and a judiciary more sympathetic to religious expression, like permitting the Ten Commandments in government buildings and allowing pastors to endorse candidates from the pulpit.

"If these issues are not addressed, you'll see values voters stay home by the millions. And then the Republicans and others who have been the beneficiary of the values vote are going to lose," Mr. Scarborough said.

Those who work to counter the influence of religious conservatives scoff at the notion that their opponents should feel aggrieved. The White House is occupied by the most openly religious president in memory, two new Supreme Court justices hold an expansive view of religious rights, and social conservatives control Congress.

"This language of persecution would be more credible if the very people using it weren't sitting at the seat of power in government today," said Kathy Miller of the Texas Freedom Network, a nonprofit group that monitors church-state issues.

Still, the dissatisfaction in the social conservative base threatens to divide a GOP already struggling to balance the interests of social conservatives with those of economic and traditional conservatives, who care primarily about Iraq, immigration, and taxes and government spending.

Turnout

Professor John Green of the University of Akron, an expert on religion and politics, said evangelicals accounted for 35 percent to 40 percent of President Bush's re-election vote in 2004 and are instrumental to GOP success.

"These voters are quite important to Republican control of the House and Senate," Mr. Green said. "In Ohio, probably Florida, Pennsylvania and maybe Missouri in 2006, these voters could be absolutely crucial to Republicans."

A group called Reformation Ohio has enlisted more than 1,000 "patriot pastors" to help register voters who could benefit the GOP, particularly gubernatorial candidate Kenneth Blackwell. The group's leader, evangelist Rod Parsley, has lent his support to a similar group, the Texas Restoration Project, whose voter-registration efforts are being used by Gov. Rick Perry's re-election campaign.

The "War on Christians and Values Voters in 2006" conference last week offered a clear view of how social conservatives are approaching this election year. They aren't dwelling on their recent successes; instead, a siege mentality seems prevalent.

On the dais and in the hallways of a hotel at the gathering of about 400 conservative Christians, the talk was about moral values under attack and what one participant called "this alien idea of an absolute wall of separation between church and state."

A succession of panels featured vivid stories about religious liberty in jeopardy.

A Navy chaplain said he was disciplined for delivering an evangelical Christian prayer during a memorial service. A Florida artist recounted how his paintings were banned from a city hall exhibit because they depicted religious themes. And a Massachusetts radio talk show host said he was physically threatened for hosting a "Mr. Heterosexual Contest" after hearing about a gay beauty pageant in California.

Panelists warned that whatever the electoral gains of recent years, American culture is still besieged by Hollywood, the news media, gays, liberals, "secular humanists" and the ACLU.

There were some acknowledgments of victory. One panelist declared that cable TV and bloggers have "broken the media monopoly," and another sparked applause by announcing he was appearing that night on Bill O'Reilly's show on the Fox News Channel.

When a conference delegate asked whether Christians should buy control of newspapers that are for sale, longtime conservative activist Paul Weyrich said there was no need.

"Newspapers are a dying industry," he said. "There won't be any newspapers 20 years from now. Buy television."

As for Hollywood, panelists were uniformly critical of what they see as its denigration of Christian values but reluctance to critique Islam and risk what conservative activist Janet Folger called "folks in turbans dancing around the ashes of the building."

A declaration by Don Feder of Vision America – "Hollywood likes Islam almost as much as it loathes Christianity" – prompted a delegate to ask why Jewish movie executives would support a religion whose extremists wanted to destroy Israel.

Mr. Feder explained that Hollywood executives are political liberals who do not reflect Judeo-Christian ethics.

"The people in this audience," he said of the largely white, Protestant crowd, "are more Jewish than people like Barbra Streisand, because you embrace Jewish values. She doesn't."

One delegate came as George Washington, dressed in three-pointed hat and full revolutionary regalia. During a question-and-answer session, he offered brisk assurance that the Founding Fathers favored a close church-state alliance, even quoting "my friend Thomas Jefferson."

ON THEIR LIST

Conservative Christian voters say that Republican leaders they helped put in office haven't moved quickly enough on their policy agenda. Here are some of the issues they feel haven't been addressed:
Gay-marriage ban. Although 19 states, including Texas, have amended their constitutions to ban same-sex marriage, Congress has not authorized a federal constitutional amendment. Conservatives say such a step is necessary to protect traditional marriage against court decisions requiring recognition of gay unions.

Religious expression. Conservative evangelicals want churches to be able to support political candidates without jeopardizing their tax-exempt status, teacher-led prayer to be allowed in schools, and religious symbols such as the Ten Commandments to be displayed in public places.

The judiciary. President Bush gets high marks for the two Supreme Court justices confirmed this year. But courts should be prohibited from taking "under God" out of the Pledge of Allegiance or otherwise ruling against acknowledgements of God in public declarations, conservative evangelical leaders say.

Abortion. Roe vs. Wade, which legalized abortion, has not been overturned.

Property rights. Conservatives want restrictions on eminent domain, the government power to take private property for public use.

Add: Border Security! Stop illegal immigration!

School vouchers. Parents should be permitted to send children to private schools, including those run by religious institutions, with public money, these voters argue.

Eminent domain ain't what it used to be

Eminent Domain:

"The power to take private property for public use by the state or municipality with just compensation."

"The right of a government or municipal public body to acquire private property for public use. It is acquired through a court action called condemnation in which the court determines the use is a public use and decides the price or compensation to be paid to the owner."

But now, it seems, Eminent Domain isn't just for the public good, or for public use. It now means pretty much this: "The reigning governental body will take any land and any property for whatever it wants to use it for (shopping mall, parking lot, sports stadium), and will pay owner whatever compensation it feels like, which may or may not be fair market value (and which may leave the previous owner scrambling to find new shelter with much less money).

Animal and Humans are NOT equal!

While it's true we humans as a whole pretty much suck at our stewardship of the world, still, animals should not have the same "rights" as human beings.

Humans beings are created in the image of God. Animals were put here on the earth to serve, and be companions to, human beings. They are not sentient, and do not have spirits or souls to communicate with, and worship, God the way that human beings do. This is the main distiction between the two!

Sometimes it's good to go back to the beginning to get a fresh perspective on things.

World events are occurring at a dizzying pace, yet they're still happening subtly enough that the majority of people don't pay attention, they just don't "get it." But putting it all down in one location, like this blog, can help to spell things out a bit more.

Our world seems like it's going mad, but unfortunately, it's only going to get worse, I'm afraid.

Keep your eyes on the Middle East....as well as in the Bible. The two go hand in hand.

WorldNetDaily: 'Atomic Iran' warnings prove accurate:

"...the current buzz surrounding Iran's nuclear ambitions 'is not alarmist fear-mongering.' And the proof comes straight from the mouth of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. In recent months, Ahmadinejad made headlines for claiming the Holocaust was a 'myth,' and by announcing: 'We don't shy away from declaring that Islam is ready to rule the world.'

Nuclear capabilities and a radical desire to rule the world do not mix. In October, Ahmadinejad declared his desire for Israel to be 'wiped out from the map of the world.' The remarks were not a flippant off-the-cuff comment. The hard-line Iranian president was speaking before 'The World Without Zionism' conference. Following his speech, 3,000 students in attendance began chanting 'Death to Israel!' and 'Death to America!'

As if the conference's harsh rhetoric were not enough, Iran has recently promised immediate retaliation if Tehran is referred to the U.N. Security Council. Manouchehr Mottaki, Iran's foreign minister, told the Guardian that any military action by the U.S. or Israel against Iran would have 'severe consequences' and would be countered 'by all means' at Iran's disposal.

Wednesday, Britain, France and Germany, along with U.S. support, submitted a draft resolution asking the International Atomic Energy Agency to refer Iran to the U.N. Security Council. As a result, all members of the Security Council agreed not to take action or impose sanctions until the IAEA presents its report regarding Iran's nuclear program in early March.

Yesterday, the IAEI Board of Governors began its two-day emergency session after "reaching an impasse in negotiations with Iran when the Islamic state announced last month that it had broken IAEA sales on its nuclear facilities," according to CNN. A vote on the EU3's draft resolution is expected to take place today. Meanwhile, U.S. National Intelligence Director John Negroponte told Congress yesterday that while Iran probably does not have nuclear weapons or the material necessary to produce them, they remain a matter of "highest concern."

Niiiice.

IMPLOSION, BABY!

So....you're here in the States illegally?

No problemo!

Feel free to get a job...many employers never check for documentation, and cash talks!

Drive a car....you don't need no stinkin' insurance...or even a license! American citizens will gladly pay those ever-increasing insurance premiums!

Be sure to send your kids to our schools and then force the schools to become bilingual, and teachers to lose their jobs because they only speak English. After all, assimilating into our society is so uncool and such a bother! Who needs that? Certainly not you!

Get a bank account! Even if most of your money get wired back to other countries, we'll take whatever small amount happens to be left over.

Need medical help? Hey, for you, amigo, it's FREE! And be sure to have your women give birth while inside our borders illegally....it's a free pass for you parents, and we citizens love paying more for our medical insurance, plus footing the bill for you and your ever-growing family!

You say you want to buy a house? Just because you're undocumented doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to purchase one for you and your 20 closest relatives! Meanwhile we citizens have to depend on things like credit!

By all means, protest in the streets of your adopted country, waving the flag of your motherland, and demean the flag of the country you seem to so desperately want to become part of, yet hate everything about.

On that note, you say that you want reconquista de Tejas, along with other border states? Go for it, vato! Our borders are sieves, drugs pour in by the ton, thousands of people cross the borders illegally every month, heaven forbid we should enforce our own laws...so why shouldn't we happily give Texas back to Mexico? Just because it's been part of the United States since 1845 never really mattered anyway, right?

I'm sure it's not racist at all that one of your major Hispanic associations is called "La Raza" which means "The Race." It would be silly to think that!

And if you're an OTM* be sure to bring your crazy religions and traditions to our country, and then argue, complain, sue, and resort to violence when our laws and customs don't happen to abide by your rules, or you don't happen to like a particular CARTOON. It's perfectly okay if you call us pigs, apes and infidels. After all: "War is ordained by Allah, and all Muslims must be willing to fight, whether they like it or not," so obviously, WE must all be in the wrong. Pay no attention to those silly laws and rules!

Don't forget: it's always appropriate that a letigious solution is the best solution! A long, drawn out, broken legal system is a joy to see in action!

It's obvious that the few should always be more important than the many. All of your yelling and screaming and flag burning and lawsuits and violence really have made a difference....you're finally making us see the truth! After all, we're learning that America is just a big, bad, intolerant, bossy, dictatorial, hateful, inflexible, narrow-minded, racist, global bully, complete with a bona fide idiot running the show! We should welcome all of you undocumented illegals with open arms!

And your truth is that it's simply all about YOU, isn't it? Wow, what a concept!

So hey....welcome to the formerly United States!

Dutch Immigrants Must Watch Racy Film
Thursday, March 16, 2006

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands — The camera focuses on two gay men kissing in a park. Later, a topless woman emerges from the sea and walks onto a crowded beach. For would-be immigrants to the Netherlands, this film is a test of their readiness to participate in the liberal Dutch culture.

If they can't stomach it, no need to apply.

Despite whether they find the film offensive, applicants must buy a copy and watch it if they hope to pass the Netherlands' new entrance examination.

The test — the first of its kind in the world — became compulsory Wednesday, and was made available at 138 Dutch embassies.

Taking the exam costs $420. The price for a preparation package that includes the film, a CD ROM and a picture album of famous Dutch people is $75.

"As of today, immigrants wishing to settle in the Netherlands for, in particular, the purposes of marrying or forming a relationship will be required to take the civic integration examination abroad," the Immigration Ministry said in a statement.

The test is part of a broader crackdown on immigration that has been gathering momentum in the Netherlands since 2001.

Dutch theologian Karel Steenbrink criticized the 105-minute movie, saying it would be offensive to some Muslims. [duh, I think that's the point]

"It is not a prudent way of welcoming people to the Netherlands," said Steenbrink, a professor at the University of Utrecht. "Minister Verdonk has radical ideas."

But Mohammed Sini, the chairman of Islam and Citizenship, a national Muslim organization, defended the film, saying that homosexuality is "a reality."

Sini urged all immigrants "to embrace modernity." [if that's being modern, no thanks]

A censored version with no homosexual and nude material had been prepared because it is illegal to show such images in Iran and some other countries, filmmaker Walter Goverde said.
"With all the respect I have for all religions, I think people need to understand that Holland has its own liberal side as well," he said.

After viewing the film, which is available in most languages, applicants are then quizzed on important Dutch factoids such as the number of provinces that make up the Netherlands; the role played by William of Orange in the country's history; and Queen Beatrix's monarchial functions.

There are some major exemptions. EU nationals, asylum-seekers and skilled workers who earn more than $54,000 per year will not be required to take the 30-minute computerized exam.
Also, citizens of the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Japan and Switzerland are exempt. (gee, that's swell!)

KNOW YOUR HISTORY...Biblical and otherwise

Know your history...the Bible is the only book that has ever foretold--with 100% accuracy--the way the world has been heading. Some things to know:

ISRAEL: the land promised to Abraham by God. Surrounded on all sides by its sworn enemies.

ISHMAEL: first son of Abraham, father of the Islamic nations. If you're in doubt about that part, read this.

JACOB: Second son of Abraham, father of the nation of Israel (God renamed him Israel), who was promised perpetual blessings by God through all eternity. Christ himself arose from one of the 12 tribes (sons) of Israel/Jacob, the tribe of Judah (the Lion).

PERSIA = BABYLON = IRAN, which has the Euphrates river within its borders. Iran has publicly vowed to destroy Israel, and is working on its own nuclean weapons to do just that.

GOG & MAGOG - lands to the north (Russia) and east (China) of Israel. The way things are moving today, Russia, China, Iran and several other middle eastern countries will probably unite against Israel in some demonic pact to wipe it off the planet. China now has the population to employ army of 200 million soldiers, as foretold in the Bible.

Biblical prophecy metaphors to be aware of:

THE BEAR: Russia.

THE EAGLE: England/U.K.

THE EAGLE'S WINGS: the U.S. (out of the Eagle)

THE LEOPARD: possibly Germany.

Possible wartime scenario: the U.N. will soon demand that all nations destroy their nuclear arms for the sake of "world peace." Israel will refuse, because they know that that is the only thing that keeps the wolves at bay, and U.S. will back her. Without nuclear weapos, Israel knows she's dead meat; all of her neighbors know this too. Because Israel refuses to stand down, other countries will attack it out of anger or spite (it won't take much), and U.S. will be drawn into the fight because we are Irael's only ally.

Tiny, surrounded Israel will garner a huge onslaught, but the hand of God will sovereignly save her, and keep her from total destruction (this act will be seen as a miracle in the eyes of the world). In fact, Iran/Damascus may very well be destroyed itself during this time, as they are messing with God's chosen people - not a good thing - "vengeance is mine" sayeth the Lord!

Another scenario: Israel develops some type of program, formula, or thing that the rest of the world wants/needs very badly. When it refuses to give up its secret formula, or "share" (in the eyes of the world), it is attacked, with the rest of the scenario above following.

Either way, and probably very soon now, there WILL be a war in which ONE-THIRD of mankind will be destroyed. We don't know how it will happen, or precisely where it will happen, just that it WILL happen. Pay attention to the news, and keep your eyes on Israel.

They're all in bed together!

Is Your Printer Spying On You?

EFF: Is Your Printer Spying On You?

Faith....but which?

Interfaithism. It's the new buzzword in religious circles. All is one. One is all. All religions are good. All religions should be tolerated (except Chistianity of course, since that seems to be the "religion of intolerance" foretold in the Bible - Matt. 24:9 "Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me.").

Not all religions are good, and many should not even be considered Christian even though they claim to be Christian. Not all religions worship the one true God, the living Lord, Jesus Christ:

Catholicism - a bit over the top, but it does have some valid points.

Islam - not much more should be said about a *cough*religion*cough* that completely flips out over a freakin CARTOON.

Mormonism - Joseph Smith liked dabbling in the occult, and even created a religion out of it!

Hinduism - a religion that says cows are gods, and you can be reborn as a bug. Um, no thanks.

Buddhism - Ommmmmmm.....yeah, I feel much better now. So enlightened.

A general information site on various religions.

Christ said we would be hated for his namesake, and be persecuted because of our love for Him, and because we choose to follow him. Every other religion is tolerated in the world today, it seems but Christianity. We can't pray, talk about our faith, "proseletyze", and even the Bible itself has been deemed "hate speech." The word of GOD, the creator of the universe, now regarded as hate speech. How insane is that?

Matthew 7:13-14
13"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Matthew 24:4 -14
Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. 5For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,[a]' and will deceive many. 6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are the beginning of birth pains. 9"Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Another Brick in the End Times Wall - ISSUE 1

Like the loving parent who gently shakes a child to wake him up, God is shaking the world today in an attempt to wake us from our slumber. And like the child who doesn't wake up immediately, the shaking becomes a bit more firm and serious.
If America and, for that matter - the world doesn't wake up soon, that shaking will become stronger and more severe.

---
(MUCH OF THIS IS ORIGINALLY FROM A YEAR AGO)

HIGH-TECH DISCOVERIES OR INNOVATIONS
· The Internet has become THE "hot ticket" in technology, and has truly changed the way the world works. Yet the WWW or, the "world wide web" as it's known, has only been a global entity for about the last 11 years, after first being a much smaller, internal computer "web" used in scientific and university settings. Think about how far technology has come in just over a decade!
· Computers - not only are they the fastest growing home electronics purchase, but more and more businesses and industries are forcing the public to use computers for business transactions such as banking, paying bills, getting unemployment checks, checking records, shopping, etc. Many businesses (such as banks) actually charge a fee if customers use a human bank teller or talk to a person on the phone!
· Technology is jumping further and further ahead, and is forcing us, by default, to keep up (i.e., replacing computers and cell phones due to becoming antiquated after a mere 2-3 years). The chips and electronics that run all of this are getting smaller and smaller – there are now computer and bio chips the size of grains of rice (and getting smaller), but truly remarkable are RFID tags (radio frequency ID tags) which are the size of a speck of dust!
· Talking billboards are ones that can recognize when someone is standing in front of them; this may lead to a "Minority Report-esque" type of billboard that can recognize a person by name by reading their personal number/chip/cellphone: http://www.europemedia.net/shownews.asp?ArticleID=13078
· Many banks and financial institutions now require either fingerprints and/or eye scans for all new customers, and most stores that cash checks also require thumbprints.
· Most states now require a social security number and thumb prints when renewing drivers licenses
· At one time, one's social security number was a highly prized and highly secretive number, much like a bank account number. It was only given to one entering the work force at age 16, and was not under any circumstances, to be given to anyone other than one's employer. Today, the privacy of that number is no more—as is that of bank accounts and medical histories. Because of the Internet, and electronic business in general, the social security number has become the choice in record identification of all kinds, with the buying and selling of lists of these numbers going to companies who have little or nothing to do with privacy, government, banking or medical institutions. Personal information once deemed private is readily available from doctors, creditors, and banks for a fee. Lists of names, bank accounts and credit card information are now commonly sold to telemarketers, insurance companies and direct mail companies.
· The biggest terrorist strike against the U.S. in its history: on September 11, 2001, under the direction of extremist Muslim Arabs, headed up by Osama Bin Laden, two separate jet liners were hijacked and flown into the two World Trade Towers in New York City. The towers collapsed, killing thousands who were trapped inside, as well as hundreds of NY police and firemen. Another plane crashed into the Pentagon, killing 800; yet another hijacked plane, bound for Washington, was thwarted by some of the passengers, who forced the plane to dive into a field in Pennsylvania, rather than attack the capital. A few of the pieces of fallout from the September 11, 2001 attack:
- Massive security measures were taken around the country at airports and entrance points into the U.S. All U.S. airports now use Federal employees at security checkpoints, rather than contracted outside companies.
- Due to tightened security, all foreigners entering the U.S. may soon be required to give fingerprints and photos. (update January 2003: there are serious discussions now to "chip" all foreigners as they enter the U.S. (from EndTime.com) http://www.cascadiamedia.org/posters/verichip.pdf This may then bleed into regular U.S. citizens as well. The chip is called Digital Angel…and the top two proposed leading implant areas are: the back of the hand or the forehead.
- Also, we are quickly heading toward consolidating a person's religion, nationality, race, medical info, educational background, and work-related issues (i.e., the dreaded "permanent record"?), social security number/phone number/drivers license number on an electronic national ID card, or in an implantable bio-chip to implant under the skin.
· The Global Satellite Positioning System (standardization of the GPS will be implemented for "security" and "tracking/safety" purposes). The GPS is becoming a greater and more ubiquitous part of life with technology." The GPS can view/take a picture of any point on earth, down to within one square yard. The GPS is also used for other types of tracking, such as herded animals on farms or ranches to prevent theft. Many rental car agencies have installed GPS in their cars (i.e., "OnStar").
· Some GPS systems are used to monitor the driving habits of rental car users, and if they are found to exceed the speed limit, either a ticket is automatically mailed to them, or a deduction is automatically removed from their checking account. Children as well now have clothing or watches to wear, in order to track them in case of a kidnapping: http://www.techtv.com/news/computing/story/0,24195,3350809,00.html and http://www.wherifywireless.com/prod_watches.htm
· Many states use window-mounted electronic toll tags on their toll highways, and reports are developed which can be accessed on line by the user. These reports track the frequency, toll amount, the location of, and the speed of, the vehicle. Many states also have tracking devices implanted in the roads to track traffic flow.
· Many new automobile models will now have "black boxes" in them, similar to those used in the airlines. These computerized boxes will gather information on the user's driving habits, such as speed, usage/wear, maintenance, etc., all of which could potentially be downloaded and used by insurance companies to control costs and to become more "discerning" (read: discriminatory) in who they will and will not take on as a new customer.
· Cellphones will soon all have the GPS system in them: http://eyetap.org/wearable/wear-hard-98/19984064.html
· A U.S. family, the Jacobs, of Florida, have become the first family to be implanted with bio chips the size of a grain of rice: http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/2002/05/10/implantable-chip.htm
· Cameras are now everywhere on the streets and in buildings/airports and use the new recognition software to catch potential criminals based on facial features. This technology is starting to be used very freely in public areas, as "breach of privacy" is negated if the person is out in a public domain.
· Identity theft is on the rise, so technology must keep ahead of the thieves (photos, fingerprints, or eye scans) http://www.privacyrights.org/identity.htm
· Cameras can automatically take pictures of non-paying drivers at tollbooths and red light runners are sent tickets in the mail (or are even emailed tickets).
· Is teleportation, ala Star Trek' on the horizon? http://www.uforc.com/research/page42.html

BIOTECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENTS / BREAKTHROUGHS
· Human cloning may have become a reality http://www.clonaid.com/ And cloning of animals has become very common. However, cloned animals have been known to acquire a host of medical problems as they age.
· The many ways of creating a baby (in vitro, surrogate, etc.) is now very common.
· Biochips now made small enough and powerful enough to implant in an animal for tracking purposes, or under the skin of humans to make banking/buying/medical information simpler and easier. Already happening.
· DNA sampling of criminals and inmates is now de rigueur in most prisons.
· Technical advancements in mechanical prosthetic limbs, and hearing aids that completely stop stutterers from stuttering.
· Lasik, liposuction, and procedures that were once considered invasive, requiring a hospital stay of up to a week, can now be done simply as outpatient procedures.

RELIGIOUS MATTERS
· The Millennium World Peace Summit was held at the United Nations on August 29, 2000. A major portion of the meeting's funding is coming from the U.N. Foundation/Better World fund, created by Ted Turner, the vice chairman of Time Warner Inc. and founder of Cable News Network, the parent network of CNN Interactive. Turner, who served as honorary chairman of the meeting, has in the past had to apologize for brash remarks about organized religion, including a 1990 comment that Christianity was "for losers." Turner was once married to Jane Fonda, who became a born-again Christian shortly before they separated.
· Rampant sexual abuse by Catholic priests being revealed and the millions of dollars in litigation this has caused, not to mention untold lack of trust of Catholics in their religious leaders around the world.
· The emergence and acceptance of Eastern-Asian religions/practices and the overall acceptance and integration of them into society (yoga, meditation, Feng Shui, spirit guides)
· The acceptance of talking to spiritualists, mediums, and psychics in everyday society. The well-known medium, John Edwards, even has his own television program called "Crossing Over," where he claims to talk to the dead loved ones of audience members.
· Worldwide persecution of Christians in Muslim, Hindu, and Buddhist countries

SOCIO-ECONOMIC, GOVERNMENTAL, GLOBAL
· After Sept. 11, the entire world has been in recession; hundreds of businesses have closed (airlines) and have layed off millions of people (in 2003, the effects are still being felt).
· Regarding Iraq. The Euphrates river, from which the four demonic angels of Revelation are to be loosed, is located in Iraq (Revelation 9:18). Saddam Hussein makes a point of comparing himself and his rule with that of Nebucadnezzar of Babylon - they even have Festival Babylon where special coins are minted that have Saddam's face on one side and Neb's on the other. Saddam is also rebuilding Babylon, complete with huge thick fortress walls, ornate hanging gardens, and any other historic information that has been gleaned from the first Babylon. Also, the name "Saddam" means "destroyer" because his was such a difficult pregnancy for his mother (her doctors even told her that it might be best for her to abort). If the U.S. is truly planning on attacking Iraq and starting another war, will this war be the one to destroy 1/3 of life on Earth? One frightening scenario:

- The U.S. attacks Iraq and Saddam Hussein; [UPDATE 2004 - Saddam Hussein captured by U.S. troops!]
- Iraq retaliates by attacking Israel;
- Israel attacks Iraq in self defense, causing other Arab nations to attack Israel as well (according to the Bible, Israel should, however, be Divinely protected by God if this happens;
- North Korea figures the U.S. has its hands full, so attacks South Korea;
- China then invades Taiwan, whom they believe belongs to them;
- India and Pakistan also go to war over Kashmir, because they figure that the U.S. can't be everywhere at once.
All of these wars could theoretically use both use nuclear and biological weapons, which could theoretically--and very easily--destroy 1/3 of life of Earth (as foretold in the Bible 2,000 years ago).
- There has been a resolution submitted by some Senator asking that those people who own smaller cars (in order to save gas and pollution) should now be taxed on their road usage; i.e., a fee per mile. No word yet on what they have planned for those road monsters, SUVs.
· India and Pakistan have been on the verge of a nuclear war over the state of Kashmir for some time. This may also include China, as the three countries each own, or claim rights to, the province of Kashmir.
· North Korea has confessed to making nuclear weapons of mass destruction. They have also been shaking their fist at the U.S., the western alliance, and South Korea as well.
· China has been threatening to invade Taiwan for some time as well. China believes that Taiwan belongs to them in whole; Taiwan, on the other hand, after 75 years of British rule, now thinks and acts like a sovereign democratic state and will not go quietly.
· The Taliban war in Afghanistan and subsequent removal of them from power.
· The number of Muslims in the U.S. has reached an all time high, and continues to grow.
· The global criminal court, another UN sanctioned initiative.
· Agenda 21, the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, and the Statement of principles for the Sustainable Management of Forests were adopted by more than 178 Governments at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992. http://www.un.org/esa/sustdev/agenda21.htm The Earth Summit was convened to address urgent problems of environmental protection and socio-economic development. Agenda 21 is now being pushed hard to all countries.
· The push by the UN for a global tax, in order to keep the richer countries more "poor" and to push the world in a socialistic direction
· The constant and escalating fighting between Israel and the Arab states.
· There has been much talk in Jerusalem about a way to rebuild the Temple without tearing down any of the sacred Israeli or Arab sites. War permitting.
· The Brazilian/Argentinean monetary situations are extremely perilous; monetary rates fluctuate wildly on a day-to-day basis, and there is constant fear of total economic collapse. Argentina, after nearly devaluing its currency, and having five presidents in only a month's time in 2001, now is involved in so much unrest that civil war is imminent, and oil exporting (14% of U.S. oil imports) has nearly come to a standstill.
· there is a resolution submitted by some Senator asking that those people who have small cars (in order to save gas and pollution) now be taxed on their road usage; i.e., a fee per mile.
· Hilary Clinton may very well run for President within the next decade; she tends to be very pro-Palestinian and extremely left-wing; GWB may win a second election, but after that is completely up for grabs and a lot can happen before his term is over.

BUSINESS / FINANCIAL / INDUSTRY
· The mergers/buyouts/absorption of corporate media giants such as Viacom, AOL Time Warner, ClearChannel, etc. have been buying out smaller media companies, and each other. Soon there may be only a few media powerhouses to feed us their view of reality…which many think smacks of corporate monopolies.
· Along those lines, banks and financial institutions around the world are being bought out or merging, creating fewer, but more powerful, banking institutions (i.e., Bank of America / Bank One)
· The Enron scandal - how one of the biggest energy related companies in the world completed collapsed, causing thousands of employees to lose billions of dollars in company 401Ks.
· WorldCom Telecommunications shortly followed suit, going Chapter 11 in 2002 (they had $4 billion on the books as revenue rather than debt). One after the next, America's deregulated industries have collapsed: airlines, electric utilities, and telecommunications. All have effectively been bankrupted by deregulation
· The inception of the NAFTA trade agreement between Canada/U.S./Mexico
· The birth of the Euro on January 1, 2002. Twelve (12) European countries are now using Euro currency (paper and coin), but 3-4 countries are lagging; though it is said that they will "come around" soon enough when they discover the problems created by not using the new currency; or have sanctions against them for not joining.
· There supposedly is a very powerful computer located in Belgium known as "the Beast." Supposedly, this supercomputer houses financial information on nearly everyone who has ever done a bank transaction, worldwide.

SOCIO-FAMILIAL / RELATIONSHIPS / HUMAN INTERACTION
· The maturing of children at an exponential rate. Overly sexualized role models, television, cable, and even commercials now make even the youngest children "little adults" in both look and actions.
· The breakdown of community within the family. Both parents often work, so they can afford "the good things" of life; leaving the kids on their own, and left to their own devices. The children are not taught good values, good manners, good morals, or if they are taught them at all, they are fast and few between, and rarely reinforced. Children are given "things" in order to make up for lack of quality time and love from the parents. This then spills over into rebelliousness, lack of respect for others or those in authority, no acknowledgement of right and wrong (only what's relative). This causes more crime, more divorce, less education, more out of wedlock pregnancies, in an never ending societal downward spiral.
· The exponential growth of pornography on the Internet and in society in general. With right and wrong being of a relative nature, pornography and perversions of all kind is running rampant. Internet sex, phone sex, pedophilia of all types, swingers clubs, erotic dance clubs and prostitution are at an all time high, yet hardly anyone bats an eye any longer. "If it feels good, do it" and "if it's right for you, it's okay" mentalities help to reinforce these industries.
· The "boredom and apathy" of high tech overload: we're so constantly blasted and assaulted by noise and activity, that we rarely ever have time to sit quietly, think for ourselves, do something creative, listen to God, or do something productive (many people even tend to be bothered by too much quiet)
· On line dating continues to grow in appeal with many single adults, whose lives are too busy to just go out and meet that special someone. Along with that, the percentage of divorces in the U.S. is now up to 60%.
· The Pledge of Allegiance is being forced out of schools by the courts: http://www.cnn.com/2002/LAW/06/26/pledge.allegiance/index.html
· The family as it was once known (father, mother [at home], children) is fast disappearing, and "families" now consist of single parents, unmarried parents, step-parents and step- or half-siblings; lesbian couples, gay couples, or any group of people living together who call themselves a "family." Talk show host Rosie O'Donnell recently admitted she was gay, and openly boasted of her pride in being a single, gay mother (with a partner) of 4 adopted kids of varying backgrounds. Also, several female celebrities have made the choice to become single mothers.
· The gay agenda and lifestyle is being pushed heavily and is becoming more prevalent in society. Insurance companies are now having to insure "life partners" or "significant others" whether or not the couple is married or even of the same gender. Nickelodeon, a family/children's cable channel, will soon be showing a sitcom based around a family with gay members. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil hosted a huge gay pride parade, which drew hundreds of thousands of people, and where the mayor of the city said that he was "proud" to serve in a city that was so "diverse."
· Children, especially little girls, are growing up extremely fast, becoming neurotic, bulimic and anorexic at grade school levels due to being inundated with television, websites and magazines that advocate extreme thinness, sex and beauty; and midriff-baring, barely-clothed, overly sexual "role models" like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, who give the impression that one can-and should-only be admired purely on a sexual level.
· TV shows like "the Osbournes" (as in Ozzy) are becoming new role models for kids. Because of the extremely vulgar language of not only the parents, but their teenage kids, nearly the entire show is bleeped. However, Ozzy is being hailed (by Dan Quayle) as role models for telling his kids not to do drugs on the show (meanwhile, he himself had a string of devil-inspired musical hits, and bit the heads off doves and bats on stage).
· The growing fascination with the occult and/or satanic/wiccan religions and ways of life, and even TV shows (Buffy, Angel, Charmed, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, etc.)
· The fact (FACT) that Christianity in general the world over is now looked at as a fundamentalist/extremist/intolerant religion, and all things connected with it are being [legally] expunged from schools, government, social strata and businesses (i.e., Christmas is now a "winter celebration" with nary even a mention of the word "holiday"). However, all other religions, faiths and beliefs seem to be welcomed with open arms and are touted and celebrated, especially in schools (couched as "diversity" and "tolerance")
