Google has just purchased Nest, a company that manufactures smoke detectors and--wait for it--smart thermostats for $3.2 billion in cash.
At first glance, this seems like a somewhat random purchase for Google, but that's only until you realize it's the start of a new era — the era of the Internet of Things. Make no mistake, Google does nothing on a whim.
This commenter said it best: It's bad enough that the NSA is collecting all of our data, but now Google wants to know the temperature I set in my house. Some things just don't need to be connected to serve our Google overlords.

I've felt for a long time now that Google will be playing a very big role in setting the technology in place that will be used by the antichrist. The ability to control everything, everywhere, at any time, from any location. And it seems they are doing just that. Sadly, they don't even realize themselves what they're doing.
