So many people are broken, dejected, depressed, angry, worried, frightened and at the end of their ropes nowadays. The world's gone mad, and it's not getting any better. But God's word has at least 365 varieties of "do not fear" - one for each day of the year! WE are the culmination of God's creative power. From the heavens to the earth, to the plants and animals that inhabit this small blue planet, WE human beings are the "top of the pops!" As we were made in God's image, everything we are: our minds, our intellect, our creativity, our sense of humor, our consciousness, our hopes and dreams, all of that comes from Him. Our minds, souls, and spirits are part of what makes us special, and allow us to talk with God one-to-one, without any interference from anyone else. God gave us this beautiful world and said "have at it, it's yours." And yet, we've strayed so far from Him, and have wreaked havoc on this gift we were given by our Creator. In this wishy-washy, 5-second attention span, promise-breaking world, only God is steadfast and solid as a rock, never changing. We can depend on Him and cling to him, and know that He keeps His promises. Every one. These are not the flippant, casual promises we are all familiar with, but divine promises with the full assurance that what God has pledged will come to pass (Num. 23:19).
Here are just a few of the promises that God has made to us since the very beginning:
- If we search for Him with all our hearts, we will find Him (Deut. 4:29).
- He doesn't play hard-to-get, He is near us whenever we pray to him (Deut. 4:7).
- His love never fails! (1 Chronicles 16:34).
- He gives blessings for all who delight in His Word (Psalm 1:1–3).
- He offers salvation to all who believe in His Son, and there is no greater blessing than this free gift God offers us (Romans 1:16–17).
- He is a comfort in our trials (2 Corinthians 1:3–4).
- He offers us new life in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). Did you know the angels in heaven celebrate whenever someone is saved? They sure do!
- He'll finish the work He started in us (Philippians 1:6). God does nothing half way.
- He gives us peace when we pray (Philippians 4:6–7), giving us protection to "guard your hearts and your minds in Christ."
- He will supply our needs (Matthew 6:33; Philippians 4:19). Needs not wants!
- God tells us that we are more valuable than the birds, and He feeds them (Matthew 6:26).
- He offers abundant life to those who follow Him (John 10:10).
- Most importantly, He offers eternal life to those who put their trust in Him (John 4:14). Jesus says that "No one will snatch them out of my hand" (John 10:28).
- Jesus promised that He will return for us (John 14:2–3). This is very important to us today, and is happening very soon - signs in the sun, moon, stars, and earth tell us!
