Not that I, or anyone I know, subscribe to or read this mag, but even a child could see that this is blatantly biased. The article is full of misinformation as well as information conveniently left out (such as stating that Todd Palin's DUI was 22 years ago, before he and Sarah were even married!). The editor of US Weekly was on FoxNews to try to explain the magazine...but didn't quite come across the way he probably wanted to, thanks to Fox' Megyn Kelly. :)

Sarah Palin gave a GREAT speech tonight--she was poised, on target, funny, succinct and sounded ready to take on the world! And the crowd obviously LOVED her. Speeches by Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee (whose speech I really enjoyed), Michael Steele (who I hope someday runs for office), Carly Fiorina, and Meg Whitman, were all great as well.

A little late information, but still very eye-opening
This information below is from Trinity United Church's own website. This is Barack Obama's former church, the one he attended, with his family, for 20-odd years. Does this sound like a Christian church? Where is Christ in this creed?

These Black Ethics must be taught and exemplified in homes, churches, nurseries and schools, wherever Blacks are gathered. They consist of the following concepts:

Now...if one were to replace the word "black" with "white" throughout this "church value system", they would be tarred, feathered, hung up, strung up, butchered and beaten by the media and perhaps even arrested for being so blatantly racist. And yet...here it is for all to see. And THIS not racist or segregationist??? This is nothing more than a "list of grievances" from what I can see.
Not to mention that since Barack Obama became known, and his relationship with Rev. Wright was put under the microscope, Rev. Wright has since retired. In doing so, he has kicked his own church doctrine to the curb. He will now be living in a $1.6 million, 10,000 square foot mansion, all paid for by his church, in a gated community. Jeremiah Wright himself criticized people from the pulpit for middle classism, and for too much materialism...so how's that for working towards "economic parity"?

- Commitment to the Black Family. - Dedication to the Pursuit of Education. We must forswear anti-intellectualism. Continued survival demands that each Black person be developed to the utmost of his/her mental potential despite the inadequacies of the formal education process. “Real education” fosters understanding of ourselves as well as every aspect of our environment. Also, it develops within us the ability to fashion concepts and tools for better utilization of our resources, and more effective solutions to our problems. Since the majority of Blacks have been denied such learning, Black Education must include elements that produce high school graduates with marketable skills, a trade or qualifications for apprenticeships, or proper preparation for college. Basic education for all Blacks should include Mathematics, Science, Logic, General Semantics, Participative Politics, Economics and Finance, and the Care and Nurture of Black minds.
- Dedication to the Pursuit of Excellence. To the extent that we individually reach for, even strain for excellence, we increase, geometrically, the value and resourcefulness of the Black Community. We must recognize the relativity of one’s best; this year’s best can be bettered next year. Such is the language of growth and development. We must seek to excel in every endeavor.
- Adherence to the Black Work Ethic. “It is becoming harder to find qualified people to work in Chicago.” Whether this is true or not, it represents one of the many reasons given by businesses and industries for deserting the Chicago area. We must realize that a location with good facilities, adequate transportation and a reputation for producing skilled workers will attract industry. We are in competition with other cities, states and nations for jobs. High productivity must be a goal of the Black workforce.
- Commitment to Self-Discipline and Self-Respect. To accomplish anything worthwhile requires self-discipline. We must be a community of self-disciplined persons if we are to actualize and utilize our own human resources, instead of perpetually submitting to exploitation by others. Self-discipline, coupled with a respect for self, will enable each of us to be an instrument of Black Progress and a model for Black Youth.
- Disavowal of the Pursuit of “Middleclassness.” Classic methodology on control of captives teaches that captors must be able to identify the “talented tenth” of those subjugated, especially those who show promise of providing the kind of leadership that might threaten the captor’s control. Those so identified are separated from the rest of the people by:Advancement of Black People towards freedom.
- Killing them off directly, and/or fostering a social system that encourages them to kill off one another. (What?!)
- Placing them in concentration camps, and/or structuring an economic environment that induces captive youth to fill the jails and prisons. (again...what?!)
- Seducing them into a socioeconomic class system which, while training them to earn more dollars, hypnotizes them into believing they are better than others and teaches them to think in terms of “we” and “they” instead of “us.”
- So, while it is permissible to chase “middleclassness” with all our might, we must avoid the third separation method – the psychological entrapment of Black “middleclassness.” If we avoid this snare, we will also diminish our “voluntary” contributions to methods A and B. And more importantly, Black people no longer will be deprived of their birthright: the leadership, resourcefulness and example of their own talented persons.
- Pledge to Make the Fruits of All Developing and Acquired Skills Available to the Black Community.
- Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting Black Institutions.
- Pledge Allegiance to All Black Leadership Who Espouse and Embrace the Black Value System.
- Personal Commitment to Embracement of the Black Value System. To measure the worth and validity of all activity in terms of positive contributions to the general welfare of the Black Community and the Advancement of Black People towards freedom.

Found this in the comments of the Newsbusters website. This person has it figured out. This is EXACTLY why we will never understand each other, politics, men/women, etc., and why the world will never function the way it's supposed WITHOUT CHRIST.

You scrupulously laid off Chelsea then you watched as liberals attacked Barbara and Jenna with aplomb. You stare in shock as the left pursues some witch hunt or other, that would have them impaling themselves on [swords] of righteous indignation, were they themselves being scrutinized in like manner. But you still don't get it. You still persist in being the good natured Joes you are. You still think that the left is just "different" and that "reasonable people can see things two different ways and no one is necessarily evil". Maybe you think that way because you're basically "good" and think everyone's like you. Maybe you're like Rick in Casablanca and just "misinformed", in either case, you're sadly and greatly mistaken. Reasonable people can't see the murder of children "two different" ways, if one of them ends up with dead children! Part of the problem is that you've grown up with a lot of false religion mixed in with the truth. We all have. "WE'RE ALL GOD'S CHILDREN", sound familiar? Of course it does, we've heard it thousands of times.
The problem is that biblically it isn't true. In fact, Jesus specifically, in painstaking detail, taught the exact opposite! HE said in the parable of the Wheat and the Tares, Matt 13:24-30, with the explanation here, Matt 13:36-41, that many people on earth do not in fact belong to Him. That's why they can think that two men should call what they commit upon each other "marriage", or can think that the interruption of a developing life in the womb is not "murder". If you pin one down, they can't even understand that but for their "intervention" a human being would be alive and going to the friggin' dry cleaners! It's like something clouds their reasoning. Well it's because only His "sheep" will hear His voice (John 10:27). And since He is truth, it is no wonder that those who are not His, embrace, spread, or revel in, lies! I realize that some will be uncomfortable about this discussion of religion but I really feel that it is in this province that the solution can be found. Maybe if you wake up you won't keep "bringin' a knife to a gunfight"! See, it doesn't surprise me that an alleged Christian like Obama would start preaching that "Jesus isn't the only way" (Listen to the audio, here.) He could have pointed out that he isn't a minister and that those questions are "above his paygrade", hmmm, why does that sound familiar? But see, he wasn't as cagey then, back then he answered the questions with his liberal satanic view of the world! So when,he as an alleged Christian supports infanticide or that he finds support for gay unions in the SERMON ON THE MOUNT, but can't seem to agree with all of the "obscure scriptures" which specifically condemn homosexuality, I'm not surprised at all. Have you listened to this guy's Pastor??? The preacher's religion is from Satan, not Jesus! (2 Corinthians 11:13-15). "Black liberation theology" teaches its worshippers to hate whites, and Jesus said that hating one's brother is a "no-no" and earns you a quick ride to a hot lake (1John 3:15 and 4:20). It's no shock to me that Pelosi would tell masterfully constructed lies about the position of the Catholic Church as it relates to abortion and in her version, it's the Church that doesn't know IT'S position! For the record the Catholic churches position on abortion is ONE HUNDRED percent biblical, contrary to some of their other notions which we could, but won't, expound on here. Nor sadly, does it surprise me that Alan Colmes and CBS' John Roberts, would now insist that Palin's a deadbeat mom for "abandoning" her special needs child. They are after all, in most cases, just doing their father's work (John 8:44), and as far as vilifying the daughter of a Vice Presidential candidate? Just another day in liberal land. Most of us on the other hand, really need to wake up.
EXIT QUESTION: If you don't recognize your enemy as your enemy, how can you possibly beat him? AMEN! Until we truly wake up, we will be forever blind, and never know the real truth!

Veganism is an oxymoron
I found this post while trying to find an answer for why vegans insist on wearing "vegan" footwear and shoes when that means plastics, vinyls and other manufactured materials...many times from China, etc. That's a carbon big footprint to leave on the earth for a size 8 shoe.
I think most veggies and vegans just don't think outside the box much when it comes to how they live. And they're very much in the minority - the rest of the planet doesn't live that way, yet they insist that their way is the best (only) way. Funny, I thought God's way was the best way: eat everything, but in balance. Meat, eggs, fish, fowl, pork, fruits & vegetables. According to God, it's ALL edible. And hey, call me crazy, but Jesus was NOT a vegetarian, no matter what Peta tries to tell us.
Here's is a very interesting post from someone who should know, and she titles her post "Why most vegans are stupid." (her words not mine!) She's put a lot of thought into the whole vegan "schtick" pointing out the obvious, that vegans (and many vegetarians as well) "are fairly self righteous about their lifestyle and often feel certain that the way they live their life leaves the smallest ecological footprint on the earth."

but i dont fanaticise because i trust in humankinds decency to reduce the necessary evils of self perpetuation as much as possible. just breathing will always take more from the earth than we can ever give, that plant could have photosynthesized something else other than your breath.
shouldnt it be okay for vegans to drink milk from a cow anyway, since if a cow is not milked it can cause an infection in its udders and cause it to die needlessly?
what do vegans feed their cats or dogs anyway?
eating seeds is like abortion.
why is eating plants and grains any better than animals, who grow just as naturally.
i have to make a vegan meal for someone whos attending my christmas turkey dinner and its a total hassle. i cant even serve them a slice of cake because theres a couple eggs in it.
vegans could at least set aside their differences *sometimes.* the world is alot less savage now than it was in the past.
You vegans can swallow your pride for a meal and eat a turkey dinner, and next time ill suffer myself to eat a plain salad next time, the karma will be balanced and the world wont spin a little less.

While personally, this does little to dampen my excitement over Sarah Palin, I think it will cause issues (at least in the MSM) with the GOP's "family values". While I'm very happy she has decided to keep the baby, it is a bit troubling that they kept so hush hush about it, and this news will definitely make everything that much messier. And is just one more thing that Sarah Palin has on her plate, including large family, disabled infant, running a large state, running all over the country as the GOP's potential VP...it's a lot to take on. A LOT.

Hurricane Gustav could hit Louisiana by Monday
Yep--another hurricane--Gustav this time around (who names these things anyway?) is headed straight toward Louisiana again. Finally the third time is a charm - after Katrina and Rita, everyone who can is bailing out of New Orleans. Even mayor Ray Nagin told everyone (early!) to GET OUT. For a change. This comes nearly 3 years to the day that Katrina hit.
I often wonder when things like this happen, is there a reason that New Orleans is getting beat up again? I know it's a very sinful city, full of crime and voodoo, but it does make me wonder if there's something to the fact the city has now been hit with hurricanes THREE TIMES in 3 years.

Big Brother is watching...your driving
This is a bit of an old issue, but still a good one, and one that continues to pop up, so I thought I'd give it a bump.
While riding with a friend in her lovely new car this weekend, she used Onstar to help guide us to our destination.
It was both fascinating and very creepy.
Her car obviously has one of those infamous GPS "black boxes" that are ubiquitous in airliners for collecting every bit of data, to determine the cause of an event if some tragedy befalls that plane. But do we really need them in our cars?
This is just another way of technology slowing encroaching on our privacy. It's being ever chipped away, bit by bit, in return for so called "safety and security." GPS is now everywhere, and because of it's convenience and usability, more and more companies, products and people are diving right into it without really looking at the big picture. Right now the NTTA (North Texas Tollway Authority) already has the ability to track your every move--if you use the tollway system. Let's look at the creepy things they already track, shall we? This is the NTTA record for my own tolltag:
For something (someONE?) to know my very whereabouts at all times, even under the guise of being "helpful" to drivers...it's all very subversive and surreal. I assume that soon enough, car insurance companies and medical insurance companies will be "borrowing" this technology to determine if someone should be barred from getting insurance coverage (or medical treatment) because their driving records show they "don't deserve them."
Add the possibility (more like the reality) of putting sensors in the roads themselves, and you have the makings of a police state - and who then are those who make this determination?
If I am an upstanding and law abiding citizen, why do I need to be watched every moment of every day? To what end?

So THIS ADVERT seems to be all over the bloggosphere lately. It's by an "artist" in Manhattan who was looking for a brave soul to be a nanny to her 4 kids. Whew. Just reading parts of that advert are chilling.
Now, I don't have children, so I really have no point of reference, but I was brought up in a rather strict household where discipline put the fear and respect of God, my parents, and others (esp. other adults) into my soul, traits that have been passed down to my nieces and nephews. So I'm thinking if you're going to start your ad with "my kids are a pain in the ***", maybe they're that way partly because of Mommy dearest.
Sounds like it might be a case of lack of discipline, too much focus on being an "artist" (sorry but I've seen her work, so I use that term loosely), and you know what? Perhaps if you DID watch their diets a bit more, ADHD would not be a problem, honey.
Also, there are ways to NOT HAVE CHILDREN if things are so out of hand in your life that you think a nanny will help to solve things. I'm just sayin.
Of course, since the original ad was posted on Craigslist, someone came back with a great rebuttal!

Alan, for pete's sake...do you know how fit this woman is??? The ONLY reason she had a Down syndrome child MIGHT have been because of her age, something she COULD NOT CHANGE. Get a clue, man.
And let's not forget our friend Michael Moore, who said that the day that hurricane Gustav makes landfall (on the first day of the GOP convention) shows proof that there is a God. Hey Michael, you're morbidly obese, so when you keel over some day and meet God, you'll have your proof, but it'll be a bit too late for you. So why don't you do the right thing and use some of that money from all your propaganda films to actually HELP those in the hurricane area? And oh yes--the GOP convention is in MINNEAPOLIS, not New Orleans.
And I NEVER thought I'd agree with Bill Maher on anything, but I certainly do with this quote. This sums things up in a nutshell:

Iran has made threats before, and will continue to do so (because the country is run by an IDIOT) but this news may be correct in the end.
As a Christian, I don't believe anyone should be killed for the sake of killing. Everyone, no matter how cruel, heartless and lost is loved by God immeasurably, and he wants everyone to come to Him.
However, I am a realist, not a pacifist. I believe we need the death penalty, and I believe in the Just War. I also know there are some crazy wackjobs out there who just happen to run entire countries; those who are power mad and are war mongers. And no, I am NOT talking about George W. Bush. I'm talking about Iran. And North Korea*. And Russia. And Cuba.
If it weren't for the innocent people who live there, I'd say, will someone please just blow the country off the map. Or at least take out their insane leader, Imademonjob.

OK, so he wasn't the best president ever (though the raw hatred of him by the left is really incomprehensible and completely uncalled for). He wasn't a great speaker like Clinton or Obama. He made some mistakes (NOT THE WAR!), and some of his policies left much to be desired.
But from the people who knew him personally, who have met him, and spent time with him, George W. Bush sounds like a really great guy, very personable, very down to earth, and frankly, I would love to meet him some day.

Well, talk about pulling the rug out from under the Dems...I guess "maverick" McCain wanted to say: "hey, I can make just as historical of a choice as you," especially since choices like Mitt Romney and Tim Pawlenty were out of the running. SOOO much to say about his choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate! - She is a proponent of petroleum development as well as other types of energies
- She favors drilling in ANWR (Arctic National Wildlife Refuge)
- Her kids have fun funky names: Track, 19 (as in "...and Field");
- Track enlisted in the Army in 2007 on the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks
- She is a member of Feminists for Life
- She led the Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter at her high school

- She's healthy - jogs and exercises a lot
- She eloped with her high school sweetheart, Todd Palin, in 1988 to save money on an expensive wedding! (she's a gal after my Dad's heart, that's for sure)
- Personally, just the fact that she has a husband, FIVE children, and runs a huge state is almost enough management and multi-tasking experience to make me think that being VP would be a piece of cake for her. :)
- She was (or is) being investigated about the firing of the guy who did not fire her former brother in law (who was married to her sister), while her sister and brother in law were embroiled in a messy divorce. Hmm.
- At 44, Palin is a generation younger than two of McCain's seven children

Does religion play too much into politics?
Personally, I don't believe it plays into it enough. I also think that politics in general is the work of Satan; I have never known of anyone in politics who has not been sullied in some way by their life in politics. And in spite of what Barack Obama says about "fixing broken politics" in Washington, at this point, there's no such thing as "fixing" it...the entire political structure is broken beyond repair, and NO MATTER WHO is in office, it cannot, and will not, be fixed, without the cleansing power of Christ, which means everyone in politics would have to be followers of Christ. And we all know that will never happen when there is freedom of choice and sinfulness involved.

McCain's VP choice is historic and hardly known
WOW. Talk about a jaw-dropper indeed! McCain, known for being a maverick has made quite a maverick decision in his choice of a Vice Presidential running mate!

But Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York said McCain was taking a "roll of the dice" and declared that Palin's "lack of experience makes the thought of her assuming the presidency troubling."
Uh...Senator Schumer? Don't EVEN go there. You have nothing to say to that when your own candidate has an extremely limited background of his own. The lack of experience of one Barack Obama is limited to less than 200 days as a senator. So don't play that card.

I remember as I watched this movie I really got that nervous butterflies-in-the-stomach feeling watching WOPR (aka "Joshua") destroy the world, albeit virtually.
Seeing the movie with 2008 eyes (after forcing oneself to look beyond the fashions of the early 80s as well as Ally Sheedy's overacting), the movie holds up well. It still hits home today, what with the now-ubiquitous internet and the thousands of global guerilla-like hackers continuously bent on getting into any and every security system and wreaking havoc therein.
Personally, I have never understood that way of thinking, but then, my mama brought me up right. :)
I give the movie two thumbs up. Check it out.
